Class Description
Tuesday morning & Thursday Evening
Mindful Yoga & Meditation
We move mindfully, listening, observing and guided by the feedback our body & mind gift us in the present moment. At times we move slowly and at other times with more speed but always grounded by the stabilising action of a body breathing well. Developing and expanding our relationship to ourself, looking inward with a curiosity to learn more. We practice by the ethos that our bodies are marvellous and resilient and we support ourselves by moving in many and varied ways. We practice sometimes to activate and challenge the mind and sometimes to still and rest it. We keep the body agile. Within our movement and our stillness equilibrium can arise.
Tuesday evening
Yin Yoga with myofascial Release & Yoga nidra
This class is influenced by my most recent trainings & continuing education.
Yin yoga, via the gentle application of tension & compression supports a healthy stimulation of the connective tissue and in particular encourages healthy structural shifts to the fascial matrix. It it is a practice to decompress the joints. We do this primarily by holding, for time, slow floor based postures and imperatively "rebounding" afterward. It is a functional practice and so the aesthetic of the shape is not of importance.
The utilisation of props is paramount here. Bolsters, blocks, straps and various shaped balls for myofascial release. The practice encourages you to drop into your own feeling space and relax into any discomfort that may arise whilst recognising and trusting your edge point. We journey through without force and by surrendering our attachment of the need to push further and achieve more.
The class is further complimented with an extended meditation or yoga nidra (a guided awareness practice).
Wednesday morning
An hour of Mindful Yoga
Embracing the early hours of the morning to move well whilst developing our relationship back to our breath is invaluable. An opportunity to reset and begin the new day mindfully and with a greater sense of self awareness. We approach the possibilities of our movement practice with curiosity and in a way that always refers back to the strength of respecting our own individual body and make up. Always grounded by the stabilising action of a body breathing well. Uniquely ourselves, honing and honouring our body awareness. This class is heavily influenced by Melissa's diverse movement practice including and outside of her yoga practice and so you can expect the movement to be diverse and interesting. We practice by the ethos that our bodies are marvellous and resilient.
Saturday morning
Vinyasa flow & Meditation
Each Saturday we flow together through our yoga practice. Moving energy, unwinding and unravelling. Challenging ideas of ourself and our balance, we approach the possibilities of our movement practice in a way that always refers back to the strength of respecting our own individual body and make up. Uniquely ourselves, honing and honouring our body awareness. We practice by the ethos that our bodies are marvellous and resilient . Through our movement and our meditation equilibrium can arise.
This class is suitable for those with some previous yoga experience or with a reasonable degree of fitness (sometimes applies).

Traditionally yoga was often practiced in a one on one learning environment where the teacher could invest their time wholeheartedly to the student who came to practice and develop their yoga. Melissa applies traditional yoga methodology with current research based movement practices to offer a practice that is supportive of your physical. emotional & mental self. The practice is for you (and up to one other) The content of this individual practice will depend on your unique self , so I cannot yet tell you what to expect.
